Pakistan currently is placed 6th with 120 points whereas New Zealand is placed 2nd with 130 points. Both teams have officially qualified for the 2023 WC.
This ODI series is quite important for Pakistan as there are questions over Babar Azam’s captaincy. According to some reports it is assumed that Head Coach Saqlain Mushtaq would be replaced by a foreign coach after the conclusion of the ODI Series.

PCB on Shaheen Afridi
Pakistan Cricket Team’s left-arm speedster Shaheen Afridi who sustained the injury during T20 WC 2022 final has started making progress. The pacer has been a vital cog as he has been the go-to bowler for the captain. It is expected that he would be fit for the upcoming New Zealand ODI Series.

Great Chance for New Zealand
With all the 3 ODI matches scheduled in Karachi, cricket fans could experience high-scoring thrillers. PCB is yet to announce the squad as they have shortlisted a list of probables. Under the interim chief selector, we can see some youngsters getting a chance.
The Black Caps would be well aware of the fact that they cannot take Pakistan lightly as they are quite unpredictable. With Trent Boult not there, a lot will depend on Tim Southee as he will have to lead the bowling attack. It would be interesting to see how the ODI Series pans out as New Zealand would be pumped up after defeating India by 1-0.
