Young Pakistan batter Saim Ayub set the stage on fire in his debut game for the team against New Zealand in the first T20I. The first game of the series between the teams is taking place at Eden Park in Auckland.

In the massive chase of 227 runs, Saim Ayub took Pakistan off the rollicking start and made a rousing statement. The left-hander took the attack to the New Zealand bowlers right from the first ball of the game and made sure that he put the opposition under pressure from the start.

Saim Ayub played some sensational shots in his innings but the main highlight of his knock was the no-look six that he hit off Matt Henry. During the 5th ball of the second over, the fast bowler bowled a short ball on the leg and he didn’t expect the batter to play the ruthless shot.

Saim Ayub got inside the line of the ball and hit it over the fine leg without even looking at it. The ball sailed for a big six and the fast bowler looked clueless against the quality of the young Pakistan batter.

Here’s the video:

Saim Ayub was all over Matt Henry in the second over of the innings. The batter hit him for two massive sixes and a four. The southpaw played new ball incredibly well and entertained the crowd at Eden Park in Auckland. In his debut game, he made a huge impact and was looking set for a big knock.

But unfortunately got ran out. Mohammad Rizwan played the yorker-length delivery from Adam Milne next to the pitch. The pacer was quick to gather the ball and hit a direct hit. Saim Ayub was out of his crease and couldn’t get back in time before the throw was fired in.

Saim Ayub played a stellar innings of 27 runs of just 8 balls. He batted with a strike rate of over 337 and slammed 2 fours and 3 sixes in his innings. His knock set a great platform for the other batters to take the game close and win for the team.

PAK vs NZ: After Saim Ayub, Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman get out as well

After Saim Ayub got out, Pakistan tumbled and lost two main batters in Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman. The keeper-batter looked in great touch and played some crisp shots in his innings. But he couldn’t cash on the start that he got as he perished to Tim Southee.

The pacer bowled a slower delivery to which the batter came down the track to swing across the line. He got a top edge that went high up in the sky and was caught by Devon Conway. Rizwan scored 25 off 14 balls.

Fakhar Zaman, who came to bat at No.4, didn’t have a great outing too. The batter managed just 15 runs as he was caught and bowled by Ish Sodhi. With his wicket, Pakistan were left tumbling at 90/3. The onus will now be on Babar Azam to take his team home.
