Things are not going well for Babar Azam’s men in the ICC World Cup 2023. They have come under tremendous pressure and have received a lot of criticism for their performances in the tournament, especially after suffering a thrashing loss against Afghanistan.

Pakistan were outplayed by the Afghanistan Cricket Team in Chennai and they had no clue whatsoever. With the bat, skipper Babar Azam smashed vital 74 runs and thanks to his knock, they posted a total of 282 runs on the board. But with the ball, they looked clueless as they managed just two wickets, and the target was easily chased.

Following the loss, skipper Babar Azam looked absolutely shattered. The Pakistan skipper even cried in the dressing room after the defeat. Former player Mohammad Yousuf revealed about the development to fans.

He said that it was not Babar Azam’s fault alone as an entire team should be blamed. He raised calls to support the captain and added that the entire nation is with him. He elaborated:

“I heard Babar Azam cried after the defeat against Afghanistan last night. It’s not only Babar’s fault, the entire team and management is involved. We are with Babar Azam in this tough time and the entire nation is with him.”

PAK vs AFG: This hurts us – Babar Azam after Pakistan’s Loss To Afghanistan

Babar Azam talked about the loss Pakistan faced against Afghanistan. He admitted that it would hurt them and admitted that they weren’t up to the mark. He added that they would try their best in the next game and would look to make a comeback. Speaking at the post-match presentation, he explained:

“This hurts us. We had a good total. In the bowling, we weren’t up to the mark as we are not taking wickets in the middle overs. If you are not good in even one department, then you’ll lose the game. We didn’t stop boundaries and gave away runs, that cost us. Bowling – we started well, in the middle overs, we needed wickets but we couldn’t take any.

“All credit to Afghanistan the way they played in all three departments. That’s why they won. We are not playing good cricket in bowling and fielding. We’ll try our best in the next match. We didn’t hit the lengths in the middle overs, especially our spinners. We couldn’t put pressure on the batters.”

Pakistan are under a pressure situation in the ICC World Cup 2023. They thumped the Netherlands and Sri Lanka in their first two games of the tournament. But after that, nothing has gone their way.

They suffered a thumping loss against India by 7 wickets and then faced another disappointing loss against Australia followed by a defeat against Afghanistan. They will next be seen in action when they take on South Africa on Friday (27th October).
