Pakistan‘s shock defeat to Afghanistan in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 continues to be a major talking point in the cricket fraternity. Former India batsman Manoj Tiwari has also shared his views on the loss and the situation of Pakistan cricket.

Pakistan suffered a humiliating 8-wicket defeat at the hands of Afghanistan. More than the defeat, it was the nature of the defeat that has raised a number of eyebrows. On a tough pitch, Afghanistan chased down 283 runs by losing just two wickets. They never looked in trouble right from the word go and went on to register their first-ever win over Pakistan in ODIs.

With Pakistan suffering such a humiliating defeat, Manoj Tiwari launched a scathing attack on them. The Bengal star stated that it has been difficult for him to make any prediction regarding Pakistan and went on to mention their controversial past including the match-fixing scandals. He even said that predicting anything about Pakistan devalues the value of the game.

“But just a friendly suggestion to all the cricket experts is that I’ve been observing Pakistan for a couple of years now. Being a cricket expert myself, and I’m still playing, but in between I do a cricket expert thing, it is becoming very difficult to predict anything on Pakistan related games because you never know what’s going to happen because they have been involved in so many controversies from the past itself.

“We have seen a number of occasions where a number of players from Pakistan team have involved in spot fixing and match fixing and other things as well,” said Manoj Tiwari in a video on X Formerly known as Twitter.

“It becomes difficult for cricket experts because to comment anything or to predict anything related to Pakistan games. Sometimes I feel that commenting or predicting on Pakistan somewhere devalues the value of the cricket experts in general.

“I would ask humbly to restrain commenting on Pakistan games because it is very difficult to see the way they have been playing of late. Simple basics, they have been doing wrong, which is very painful to see, but that’s about it. It’s difficult. It’s becoming difficult because we all want the quality players to come forward and do well for the countries, but somehow, somewhere there is a question mark. Sorry, but that’s the fact,” added Manoj Tiwari.

Manoj Tiwari’s career:

Manoj Tiwari represented India in 12 ODIs and 3 T20Is in international cricket. He last played for India in 2015.
