Former cricketer Aaqib Javed picked Shaheen Afridi as the new captain for Pakistan following their disappointing performances in the ICC World Cup 2023. Aaqib Javed emphasized that the Pakistan team requires a leader who can infuse aggression into the players.

Shaheen Afridi led the Lahore Qalandars to victory in the PSL 2023 at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. The left-arm pace bowler achieved the distinction of being the first captain to win the PSL trophy twice, as he had also led his franchise to the title the previous year.

The Men in Green endured an eight-wicket loss in their fifth match of the tournament at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Monday, October 23. Babar Azam’s captaincy came under scrutiny as Afghanistan lost just two wickets in challenging batting conditions.
The Pakistan team are currently in fifth place in the 10-team points table with four points. They must win their remaining four matches to stay in the tournament. Teams typically need to win at least six matches and rely on other teams’ results to qualify for the semi-finals.
