PAK vs SA: Shocked Fans React To Bizarre Blunder From Broadcasters As Rassie van der Dussen Is Dismissed In Controversial Manner

Rassie van der Dussen’s dismissal in the ongoing World Cup game between Pakistan and South Africa has raised a number of eyebrows.  The right-handed batsman joined captain Temba Bavuma in the middle in the very fourth over after Shaheen Afridi sent back Quinton de Kock.

Unlike de Kock, Rassie van der Dussen did not play attacking cricket but did well to rotate the strike. He, however, did not last long and was dismissed for 21 runs. His dismissal was full of drama as he was given out lbw off the bowling of Usama Mir.

On the 5th ball of the 19th over, the leg-spinner bowled a skiddy delivery on the middle and leg-stump and Rassie van der Dussen wanted to flick it. However, he failed to make any contact with the ball and was hit on the pads. The Pakistan players appealed for a lbw and the umpire gave his decision in the favor of the bowler.

Rassie van der Dussen, however, was not convinced and he decided to review the decision. And the replays must have made him happy as the giant screen showed that the ball was missing the wicket. But he was left disappointed the very next second as the broadcasters quickly changed it to umpire’s call and the Proteas batsman had to walk off.

Here are some reactions to the incident involving Rassie van der Dussen:

Talking about the incident, South Africa were on 180 for 4 after 28 overs at the time of writing this report. They are chasing 271 runs for their fifth win in the ongoing competition. Aiden Markram was batting on 58 while giving him company was David Miller on 25.

Earlier in the game, Pakistan were all out for 270 runs. They did well to recover from 141 for 5 but failed to finish strongly. At one stage, they were on 225 for 5 thanks to Saud Shakeel and Shadab Khan’s 84-run stand. However, once the stand was broken, Pakistan suffered a collapse and were all out for 270 runs in the 47th over.
