Watch – Waqar Younis’ Mixed Expressions As Pakistan Loses to Afghanistan
Waqar Younis was on the commentary panel when Afghanistan skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi hit the winning runs to create history. Pommie Mbangwa expressed his emotions, while Younis appeared silent and nodded, seemingly struggling to grasp the outcome.
“And there it is. Momentous. Historic. The first time Afghanistan has won two matches in a World Cup. Fantastic. A controlled skillful and dominant run chase against former champions Pakistan. They have doubled up on celebrations,” Mpumelelo Mbangwa.
Look at the face of Waqar Younis who is almost crying seeing the Pakistan’s lose. He is the same Waqar Younis who was ecstatic after win against India few months back praising Mohd. Rizwan for doing namaz infront of Indian crowd after their win against India.

It Is Very Hurting – Waqar Younis
Speaking to Star Sports, Waqar Younis expressed mixed emotions about Pakistan’s loss to Afghanistan. He expressed deep disappointment in Pakistan’s performance but also conveyed happiness for Afghanistan’s historic win.
“It is very hurting. But I’m very happy for Afghanistan. Also, don’t forget because you know they deserve it. The way they handle the pressure, the way they played cricket. I’m happy for them. I am gutted because you know what I’ve seen today,” Waqar told Star Sports.
“That’s not the Pakistan team, I know you know. The attitude was totally missing zero out there. There was no method. It was just you bowl you bowl. You know, we’re not going to field and we’re sitting on the heels. There was so much to sort of. We can sit down here all night and criticise because they have provided us so much to talk about,” he added.
The Pakistan team will face the Temba Bavuma-led team in their next match at the same venue on Friday, October 27. The Babar Azam-led team are currently in fifth place in the 10-team table, with four points from their first five matches.
