Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has brutally slammed the PCB after the appointment of mentors for the five domestic teams of the Champions Cup, which will be played next month.

Recently, the PCB appointed Misbah-ul-Haq, Saqlain Mushtaq, Waqar Younis, Shoaib Malik, and Sarfaraz Ahmed as the mentors of the five teams in the Champions Cup, which is a domestic tournament.

The first assignment for these mentors will be the Champions One-Day Cup, which will be played from September 12-29. It is expected that the country's top players will feature in the league which will also serve as a preparation for the next year's Champions Trophy.

Rashid Latif brutally slams PCB on degrading the legends

While speaking in a video, Rashid Latif reacted to the appointment of Misbah-ul-Haq, Saqlain Mushtaq, Waqar Younis, Shoaib Malik, and Sarfaraz Ahmed as the mentors of the five teams in the tournament.

Rashid Latif reckoned that these legends have been demoted from their roles as some of them have been successful head coaches in the past. He even claimed that these legends have been made the scapegoats by the board.

"Waqar Younis, Saqlain Mushtaq, and Misbah-ul-Haq have been successful head coaches in the past. Afterward, they were demoted and became the mentors. A general has been made a brigadier. They have been given the mentoring role. They are being made the scapegoats. They (the PCB) are not decentralizing but instead centralizing the teams," Rashid Latif said.

The former wicketkeeper even argued how the board will be able to select five teams when they cannot even select a good Pakistani team.

"They have their mentors and head coach, and the teams are also selected by them. The ones who cannot select a good Pakistani team are now going to make five more teams," Latif added.

Pakistan cricket going through a bad patch

Pakistan cricket is going through its worst times currently. The team recently lost a Test match to Bangladesh, which was also their first-ever defeat against the opposition in 14 attempts in Tests.

Despite playing at home, the home team did not look comfortable in the match. The batters scored a good amount of runs in the first innings and scored 448-6 but the visitors replied splendidly by scoring 565.

The Men in Green second innings was the turning point of the match as they were bundled out for a paltry 146 on a fifth-day pitch. The batters played poor shots and most of them were soft dismissals.

Bangladesh chased down the target of 30 runs easily, in the end, to send a clear signal to the home team that they are not here just to compete. The next Test will be played on the same ground and will begin on August 30.
