Pakistan Cricket Board and Mohsin Naqvi dragged to court amid ongoing tussle with BCCI

The Pakistan Cricket Board renews the offers for every franchise and also their new franchise fees; however, the Multan Sultans have yet to receive it, while the other teams have already been offered their part.

This longtime split between the Pakistan Cricket Board's PSL wing and Multan Sultan owner Tareen spilled the beans over when Tareen publicly criticised the league in the buildup to its 10th edition. He had alleged that the PCB had a lack of transparency and no clear communication within its management.

This criticism took over and continued for months, while earlier this year, the Pakistan Cricket Board's PSL committee had threatened to blacklist him unless he made a public apology. Instead of an apology, Tareen further instigated the Pakistan Cricket Board with a taunting video to the management, where he used sarcasm to apologize for 'wanting to make PSL better.'

Multan Sultan is the only PSL franchise yet to receive their ownership renewal

Previously, last week, the Multan Sultans owner, Ali Tareen, confirmed that the franchise has yet to receive an offer from the PSL to renew their ownership of the franchise. The PCB too had confirmed that the renewal offers, as well as franchise fees, were already sent to 'all compliant PSL franchises.'

However, a representative from Sultans confirmed that they were not one of the franchises to have received such an offer. The other franchises, on the other hand, had confirmed to ESPNcricinfo that they have received their renewal offers.

Since then, it has been believed that all 5 franchise owners were handed the opportunity to extend their ownership, with the renewal valid for a further ten years. The Sultans' representatives were invited to attend meetings concerning the scheduling and operations of the upcoming PSL.

With the latest tweet on his official X handle, Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen has communicated a clear message to the Pakistan Cricket Board and the PSL committee that, despite their desperate attempts and multiple official letters, emails and legal notices sent over to the PCB, they have not yet received their renewal letter.

On answering those who have questioned why this is not being handled behind closed doors, he revealed that the Pakistan Cricket Board has refused to engage with them. He finally threatened that if this ghosting continues, then it is most likely they will resort to legal action.

"Since the PCB will not communicate with us, here is an update we can share ourselves.

Over the past month, we have sent multiple emails to the PSL management, asking for our valuation and renewal letter (which every other team has already received). But there has been no response. No response to our legal letter, no response to our emails, no response to my letter to the Chairman.

Even other franchise reps have asked why Multan is not being included in the valuation and renewal process. No response.

For those asking why this is not being handled behind closed doors, it is simply because the PSL Management refuse to engage with us.

If this ghosting continues, we will have no choice but to take legal action. Which is the absolute last thing we want to do.

This entire situation is so unnecessary and could have easily been solved over tea and biscuits. But fragile egos make simple things difficult.

Let’s hope better sense prevails, but it is not looking likely…" read the official Tweet from the Multan Sultan's owner.

PSL franchise values were increased by 25%

Some of the franchises then revealed that they now have 10 days to respond to the renewal offers. Every franchise will have to consider paying the increased annual franchise fee, as a minimum of 25% has been added to what they used to pay in the previous seasons.

The Pakistan Cricket Board released a list of cities that potential owners could name their new teams after. The PCB is hence going to mark two new additions to the number of participating teams, with them being named after Hyderabad, Sialkot, Muzaffarabad, Faisalabad, Gilgit, or Rawalpindi. The upcoming season of the PSL is likely to take place in the April-May window next year.
