Pakistan will take on Sri Lanka in the third match of the Super Four round of the Asia Cup 2025. This article provides details about Pakistan's Playing 11 vs Sri Lanka for the upcoming match.
Pakistan Playing 11 vs Sri Lanka- Asia Cup 2025, Super 4 Match 3:
Openers: Fakhar Zaman, Sahibzada Farhan
Pakistan would want to bounce back when they take on Sri Lanka in their second game of the Super Four stage of the 2025 Asia Cup, having lost to India in the first match.
The Salman Ali Agha-led side would bank on its batter to come good once again, like they did in the first ten overs against India.
Having said that, the team management and the captain would be aware of the team's performance with the bat in the middle overs, which led to them failing to cross what could have easily been a total of close to 200 runs.
The responsibility will be on experienced batter Fakhar Zaman, who opened for the Men in Green in the previous match, to get the team off to a good start.
Zaman will be partnered by Sahibzada Farhan, who scored a fifty against India and stitched a valuable partnership for the second wicket with Saim Ayub.
The opener would wish to keep up the good work and provide a platform for the batters to come.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha (c), Hussain Talat, Faheem Ashraf, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Haris (wk),
If we talk about the performance of Pakistan's middle order in the last match, it would be somewhat disappointing as the likes of Salman Ali Agha and Mohammad Nawaz were able to capitalize on the platform laid by the top three batters.
However, the former Asia Cup champions would be satisfied with the way Saim Ayub batted in his new position of number three, as he was aggressive and took on the Indian bowlers after the power play as well.
Pakistan would hope for him to replicate the same performance in the next game against Sri Lanka and get a big score under his belt.
Pakistan looked like a more settled unit as far as the team's batting is concerned due to the changes they made by bringing in two fast bowling all-rounders in the form of Hussan Talat and Faheem Ashraf.
Pakistan is expected to go with an unchanged playing XI for what happens to be a do-or-die game for them against Sri Lanka.
Bowlers: Shaheen Afridi, Abrar Ahmed, Haris Rauf
As far as the bowling is concerned, it looked flat against some aggressive batting from Avbhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill in the last match, and it will have to get its act together for the matches to come.
It looked like the likes of Shaheen Afridi and Abrar Ahmed had no second plan when they got hit for a few boundaries early in their over.
The only shining light in an otherwise disappointing bowling performance was Haris Rauf, who came back strongly after going for a few runs in his first couple of overs.
Another notable thing during the bowling innings was that the team's most experienced spinner, Mohammad Nawaz, wasn't used for even a single over, with part-time bowler Saim Ayub preferred over him.
It would be interesting to see if the case remains so in the game against Sri Lanka as well, because the Men in Green don't have a lot of options in the spin bowling department.
