Significant changes have been made for Bangladesh's forthcoming white-ball tour of Pakistan, scheduled to be held in May 2025. Bangladesh and the hosts were scheduled to play three ODIs and three T20Is on the tour earlier.
However, the schedule has been changed as both teams will play five T20Is now. As a result, the three-match ODI series has been scrapped from the window altogether. The decision was mutually taken by the cricket boards of both the respective nations.

PCB and BCB make significant changes to the white-ball series
The decision to scrap the ODI series for a lengthened T20I series was taken considering the Asia Cup 2025 and the T20 World Cup 2026 in mind. Both tournaments are quite big and will be crucial for both of these teams.
According to the FTP, Bangladesh were earlier scheduled to play three ODIs and T20Is, but both BCB and PCB have decided that the teams will play five T20Is instead. The decision was confirmed by a BCB official through Cricbuzz.
"We have decided to play T20Is instead of ODIs in the upcoming tour of Pakistan as we are planning to start our preparation for the next T20 World Cup as well as the Asia Cup through that series," the official confirmed.
The dates and the venues for the series are yet to be decided and will be finalised in a few days. The series is going to be an exciting one, given their rivalry in the last few years.
Pakistan to tour Bangladesh in July
After the five-match T20I series in May, Bangla Tigers will host the Men in Green for a three-match T20I series in July. The BCB official confirmed the dates of the series to be July 20, 22, and 24.
"When Pakistan travels to Bangladesh, they are scheduled to play three T20Is," the official further added while giving information about the future series between these two teams in July.
The series is scheduled to be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka and will take place just before the Men in Green tour the West Indies, where they will play three T20Is and three ODIs.
Asia Cup 2025 to be played at a neutral venue
The Asia Cup will be held in the T20I format this year to help the teams prepare for the next year's T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to be held during February-March 2026.
While India will host the Asia Cup 2025, the country will jointly host the T20 World Cup 2026 alongside Sri Lanka 2026. As per the agreement between the PCB and the BCCI, Pakistan will not travel to India for the Asia Cup, and their matches will be held at a neutral venue.
The performances of both Bangladesh and Pakistan have been below par in the recent ICC tournaments. Both teams were in the same group of the Champions Trophy but were knocked out in the group stage.
In last year's T20 World Cup, Bangladesh were knocked out of the Super Eight Stage while Pakistan suffered a shocking group stage exit after losing a match to the USA.
