Bangladesh are set to visit Pakistan for the five-match T20I series in May and June, as confirmed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday.
The upcoming T20I series is set to run from May 25 to June 3, and Faisalabad will host its first international match in 17 years.
Pakistan and Bangladesh have revamped their bilateral tour to focus on preparations for the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup.
The tour was initially planned to include three ODIs and three T20Is under the Future Tours Programme (FTP). However, the two boards agreed to replace the ODIs with two T20Is in the series.
India and Sri Lanka are set to co-host the 2026 T20 World Cup in February and March. Pakistan suffered an early exit from the group stage during last year's tournament in the Caribbean Islands and the United States.
PCB Confirms Extra T20Is Against Bangladesh
The PCB revealed that the change was made to better align with both teams' preparations for the T20 World Cup next year. Bangladesh is set to arrive on May 21 and will have training sessions at the Iqbal Stadium from May 22 to 24.
"The series, which is part of the Future Tour Programme (FTP), originally consisted of three ODIs and three T20Is. However, with the ICC Men's T20 World Cup scheduled for next year, both the boards have mutually agreed to replace the ODIs with two additional T20Is," PCB said in a statement.
"Bangladesh team will arrive on 21 May and will undergo training sessions at the Iqbal Stadium from 22 to 24 May."
The Men in Green and Bangladesh have met 19 times in T20 internationals. The Men in Green have secured 16 wins in head-to-head matches, while Bangladesh has won just three matches.
The most recent T20I series between the two teams took place during the 2022–23 tri-nation series in New Zealand. Pakistan emerged as the champions after defeating New Zealand in the final.
Faisalabad to Host International Match for the First Time in 17 Years
The five-match T20I series will take place in Faisalabad and Lahore from May 25 to June 3. The first two matches will be played at the Iqbal Cricket Stadium in Faisalabad on May 25 and 27.
International cricket will return to the stadium after a 17-year gap, with its last international fixture being an ODI between Bangladesh and Pakistan in April 2008. This venue has hosted 24 Tests and 16 ODIs between 1978 and 2008.
Notably, Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore will host the final three T20Is, scheduled for May 30, June 1, and June 3. The Bangladesh team will train at the Iqbal Stadium before the series begins.
