Pakistan are set to face England in the fifth match of the T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 stage at the Pallekele Stadium on Tuesday, February 24. There has been curiosity among fans over weather conditions, as the Salman Ali Agha-led team’s first Super 8 match against New Zealand was washed out due to rain.

Pakistan and England have faced each other three times in the T20 World Cup so far. England have won all three matches, including the 2022 T20 World Cup final. The two sides last played a T20I against each other in 2024, when England won again by seven wickets after chasing a target of 158 runs in 15.3 overs.

Weather Update Ahead of Pakistan vs England T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 Game

The match in Kandy is likely to be played without weather interruptions, as forecasts predict a very low chance of rain. Conditions are expected to remain steady. Notably, the result should depend on both teams’ performances rather than external factors.

During the game, the temperature is expected to be close to 19°C, creating cool and comfortable conditions for players. The sky is predicted to stay mostly clear, which should help maintain good visibility and even playing conditions through the evening.

Winds are forecast to be mild, coming from the south-southeast at about 6 km/h, with gusts of up to 13 km/h. While this should not greatly affect batting or bowling, fielders may need to stay alert when dealing with high catches.

Pakistan vs New Zealand Super Eight Match Abandoned Due to Rain

Pakistan’s previous Super Eight match against New Zealand was abandoned due to rain at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium on Saturday. Both teams were forced to share one point.

The game was stopped shortly after Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha won the toss and decided to bat. Heavy rain continued for more than two-and-a-half hours, leaving match officials with no option but to call off the contest.

The Super Eights stage is crucial, as the top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals on March 4 and 5. Under the tournament’s Fusion Formula, Pakistan will play all their T20 World Cup 2026 matches in Sri Lanka.

If Pakistan qualify, the first semi-final will be held at the R Premadasa Stadium. If they do not progress, the match will be played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The venue for the final on March 8 will also depend on Pakistan’s progress.

England Enter Match After Low-Scoring Win Against Sri Lanka

England will arrive for the match after pulling off a win against Sri Lanka in a low-scoring game in Pallekele. Their bowlers stepped up after a below-par effort with the bat and turned the contest in their favour.

Phil Salt scored 62 off 40 balls, but the rest of the lineup struggled on a dry and difficult pitch. The Harry Brook-led team finished their innings on 146/9 in their allotted 20 overs.

Sri Lanka went into the chase as favourites, but early damage from England’s bowlers changed the game. Will Jacks picked up three wickets and Jofra Archer bagged two scalps, breaking Sri Lanka’s momentum in the powerplay. Sri Lanka failed to recover and were bowled out for 95.
