Rajasthan Royals (RR) have made a massive comeback in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) by defeating the Punjab Kings (PBKS) last night on April 28. It was the first defeat for the Shreyas Iyer-led PBKS in the season. RR will next face the Delhi Capitals (DC) on May 1 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
Ahead of the match, a video of the Delhi Capitals has caught the attention of cricket fans across social media platforms. It depicts a funny altercation between the two DC players, Sameer Rizvi and Rehan Ahmed.
Rehand Ahmed joined the Delhi Capitals as a replacement
Rehan Ahmed is the new addition to the team. He joined the Delhi-based IPL franchise as the England opener Ben Duckett. In place of the English opener, the franchise has secured the service of another Englishman, in the form of Rehan Ahmed, a leg break spinner.
The 21-year-old England international has already joined the team and witnessed some incredible moments with the team. He was the team scoring a massive total of 264 runs against PBKS, and in the next match, Delhi Capitals were bundled for only 75 against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
A language barrier between Ahmed and Sameer Rizvi
Ahmed, who is an England National Team cricketer, was born in Nottingham, England, on August 13, 2004, and has a Pakistani heritage in his blood. His father, Naeem Ahmed, is a former fast-bowling all-rounder from Mirpur, who migrated from Pakistan to the UK in 2001. Rehan, a British-Pakistani cricketer, is fluent in English but can also understand Hindi.
The fun fact is that the spinner can understand Hindi very well, but can’t speak the language. On the other side, Sameer Rizvi, who is a Hindi speaker but is not fluent in English. Despite the language barrier, these two young cricketers are seemingly getting along well with each other.
In the video, we can see that some of them are sitting on the back seat of a bus, side by side, and ask how they managed to talk with each other. Rizvi explained that, as Rehan can understand Hindi, he often talks with him in Hindi and Rehan replies in English. Despite the tough situation of the team in the IPL 2026 points table, Sameer Rizvi looked relaxed, smiling while talking about Rehan Ahmed.

Delhi Capitals is living dangerously
As of now, the Delhi Capitals are ranked seventh in the 10-team league. They are currently carrying only 6 points as they have managed to win only 3 of 8 matches. With 5 defeats and a poorly shaped net run rate of -1.060, their chances for a play-offs spot are looking lean.
The 22-year-old middle-order batter, Sameer Rizvi, started this campaign with a bang, but gradually dropped his form. In 8 matches and 7 innings, the emerging batter has scored a total of 209 runs so far with a strike rate of 149.28, powered by a highest score of 90. On the other side, his teammate, Rehan Ahemad, 21, is yet to make his debut in the Indian Premier League.
