This shocking incident comes at a time when similar cases have surfaced in other parts of the country. Earlier in July 2025, four youths were arrested in Deoria, Uttar Pradesh, for wearing T-shirts featuring the Palestinian flag during a Tazia procession.
In the same month, another man was arrested in Agra for allegedly waving the Palestinian flag during a Muharram procession. These incidents raised serious questions about the intent behind the act.

Jammu Police Launch Investigation, Question People Involved
Acting quickly on the viral clips, the Jammu and Kashmir Police summoned both cricketer Furqan Bhat, involved, and the tournament organizers for detailed questioning.
The officials state that the investigation aims to uncover the intent behind the display—whether it was a personal symbolic act, a prank, or a deliberate provocation—and whether any permissions were taken before displaying it.
Police said in an official statement as quoted by India Today: “One cricket player and organizer of the tournament has been called for questioning by J&K Police regarding the use of the Palestine flag on his helmet during a cricket match at a private tournament in Jammu.”
Tournament Organizers Under Scrutiny
As part of the inquiry, the police are checking if the J&K Champions League rules were violated and whether the act was intentional or symbolic in nature. They are also investigating if the organizers followed proper guidelines for conducting the cricket event.
Authorities have confirmed that the tournament is a privately organized local league and is not linked to any national or international cricket board.
Legal Implications: Will an FIR Be Filed?
The police has confirmed that no legal action has been taken against anyone at the moment, as the process is still at the stage of questioning and fact verification. Any further steps will only be decided after a complete review of the situation and all related details.
A senior official stated, “Police are verifying the facts and investigating the matter.”
