Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc snubbed as Dinesh Karthik labels Jasprit Bumrah as 'greatest all-format bowler'

Former India batsman Dinesh Karthik has hailed Jasprit Bumrah as the best all-format bowler in the world after the India star's heroics in the recently-concluded ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

The right-arm pacer further enhanced his reputation by playing a starring role in India's winning campaign. Jasprit Bumrah had missed the previous edition of the T20 World Cup in 2022 due to an injury and it did not take him long to show what India missed in his absence. While he did not finish the 2024 T20 World Cup as the highest wicket-taker, no bowler managed to make an impact as big as him.

Jasprit Bumrah provided India with crucial breakthroughs throughout the tournament while maintaining a brilliant economy rate of just 4.17. He finished the tournament as the third-highest wicket-taker, taking 15 wickets, and was adjudged the Player of the Tournament.

In the first two games of the World Cup against Ireland and Pakistan, he was adjudged the Player of the Match. His performance in the semifinal and final was equally impressive. In the semifinal, he picked up 2 wickets for 12 runs before taking 2 for 18 in the final as India beat South Africa by 7 runs to win the T20 World Cup.

Dinesh Karthik heaps praise on Jasprit Bumrah:

Dinesh Karthik recently spoke about Jasprit Bumrah while answering a few questions from the fans. One of the fans asked him about how crucial Bumrah's role was in India becoming the champions. In response, the former wicketkeeper-batsman started by recalling his commentary during the game when he had called Bumrah more valuable than Kohinoor diamond before lavishing praise on him.

Karthik called his former India teammate the best all-format bowler in the world before hailing him as a captain's dream.

"When I was on air, I said he is more valuable than a Kohinoor diamond. Genuinely he is the greatest all-format bowler at the moment in world cricket. Under pressure to come and keep performing time and time again, not many can do that," said Karthik in a video posted by Cricbuzz.
