The venue of the IPL 2025 match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mumbai Indians (MI), originally set to be played in Dharamsala on May 11, has reportedly been relocated. According to a report by Sportstar, the upcoming match will be played in Ahmedabad in the wake of a military operation, Operation Sindoor.
In response to the April 22 mass shooting in Baisaran Valley, Pahalgam, which left 26 civilians dead — the deadliest terror attack — the Indian Army launched targeted strikes in the early hours of May 7. The operation hit nine terrorist locations across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Flight restrictions across several northern and western Indian cities disrupted Mumbai Indians’ travel plans ahead of their match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals (DC), which is set to take place in Dharamsala on Thursday, May 8.
However, the match between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians, originally set for Dharamsala, has been shifted to Ahmedabad—a change confirmed by Gujarat Cricket Association secretary Anil Patel.

Airports in Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot were shut until 5:30 AM IST on May 10, as reported by the Times of India.
Dharamsala Has Been the Secondary Home Ground for Punjab Kings
The HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala has been the secondary home ground for Punjab Kings for multiple IPL seasons. For IPL 2025, the stadium was allocated three matches for PBKS in the later stages of the tournament.
These matches included encounters against Lucknow Super Giants (May 3), Delhi Capitals (May 8), and Mumbai Indians (May 11). PBKS began their Dharamsala campaign with a 37-run victory over LSG.
The team is currently based at the venue, with Delhi Capitals also in Dharamsala for their match. DC will have to travel back for their upcoming home fixture against Gujarat Titans on May 11.
PBKS Eyeing First Playoff Appearance Since 2014 in IPL 2025
Punjab Kings are in the race for a playoff spot in IPL 2025. They are aiming to reach the knockout stage for the first time since 2014. The Shreyas Iyer-led team has secured seven wins in 11 matches and is currently third on the points table.
On the other hand, Mumbai Indians had their six-match winning streak end after a dramatic last-ball defeat against Gujarat Titans at the Wankhede Stadium. The five-time champions still have work to do, as the playoff race remains competitive with several teams in contention.
The upcoming clash will also mark the first time Punjab Kings face Mumbai Indians this season. Notably, the neutral venue will eliminate home advantage for Punjab.
