The ongoing game between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur, Chandigarh witnessed a controversial moment.

The incident took place in the 19th over of Mumbai Indians' innings when Tim David was facing Sam Curran. The match officials have raised a number of eyebrows with their call to adjudge a delivery as a wide one. For the third delivery of the over, Sam Curran decided to bowl one well outside off in order to keep the ball away from David's reach.

David wanted to play a cut shot but could not make any contact with the ball. The on-field umpire decided against calling it a wide delivery and MI decided to review the decision. The replays showed that the ball passed just over the tramlines. In addition to that, David was also past the off-stump when he played the shot. The third umpire, however, eventually adjudged it a wide ball.

Suryakumar Yadav's heroics:

Earlier in the game, Suryakumar Yadav's brilliant knock of 78 runs powered Mumbai Indians to 192/7 in 20 overs after they were asked to bat first. His knock came off 53 balls and was studded with seven fours and three sixes. Rohit Sharma (36) and Tilak Varma also played crucial knocks for the visitors.

"That teaches you there are ups and downs in life (on his scores this season). It is going really, I am almost there, I have started fielding and training, hoping I will be on the field for the whole 40 overs," said Suryakumar Yadav who has scored two fifties and two ducks in four innings this season.

"Nothing much (on his celebration), there was a batters meeting and we spoke about a batter batting for 15-16 overs, took a little more time today but once Rohit got out, someone had to bat deep. There hasn't been dew and if that is the case then it is way above par," he added.

Talking about the game, PBKS were reeling at 111 for 7 at the time of writing this report.
