Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi has denied No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi. Mohsin Naqvi stated that no-objection certificates won't be issued to Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi ahead of the Bangladesh series.

Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Mohammad Rizwan have applied for NOCs to play in the Global T20 League in Canada. The league is scheduled to take place from July 25 to August 11 in Canada. The upcoming two-match Test series between Pakistan and Bangladesh is set to begin around August 19.

Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan And Shaheen Afridi Denied NOCs

While addressing journalists in Lahore, Mohsin Naqvi emphasized that Pakistani players should prioritize national duties over participating in foreign leagues. Naqvi stated that players seeking No Objection Certificates would not be granted permission to play in foreign leagues before the Test series at home.

The Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board made an interesting announcement regarding central contracts. Naqvi emphasized that only players meeting fitness standards will receive central contracts. Both domestic and international cricketers must pass fitness tests, including the Yo-Yo test, without exception.

“I also felt mistakes were made by Babar Azam. There will be also a post-mortem in the central contract, it will be subject to fitness. The players will have to give all the fitness tests,” the PCB chairman said.

The PCB chief also announced that former cricketers will play a key role in determining star batter Babar Azam's future as the Pakistan white-ball captain. Naqvi emphasized that international players who do not participate in domestic cricket will not be eligible to return to the national team.

“No decision taken so far related to Babar Azam. I’m only speaking to those former cricketers who are interested in the betterment of Pakistan cricket,Naqvi added.

Mohsin Naqvi addressed concerns about his previous statement regarding surgery, advising against making decisions in anger. He emphasized that those responsible for incorrect decisions within the selection committee are accountable.

People are asking about surgery but one should not take any decision while you are angry. Whoever made wrong decisions in the selection committee will also be held accountable, Naqvi said.

Gary Kirsten Has Submitted A Detailed Report - Mohsin Naqvi

The 45-year-old said that head coach Gary Kirsten and assistant coach Azhar Mahmood were called for a discussion on the Pakistan team’s performance. Naqvi noted that Kirsten had submitted a detailed report on the team's performance in the recent T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and the USA.

“Kisten has also submitted a detailed report on Pakistan team’s performance in the T20 World Cup,” Naqvi added.

Pakistan, under Babar Azam's leadership, suffered defeats against the USA and India in their initial matches of the T20 World Cup 2024. The Pakistan team was eliminated from the tournament's group stage. Notably, they had finished as semifinalists and runners-up in the previous two editions.
