As Pakistan cricket is sinking deeper into turmoil, Sarfraz Nawaz has made a scathing assessment of the situation after the national team crashed out of the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in the first round itself.
The most embarrassing thing was that Pakistan ended their campaign without a single win despite hosting the ICC event after more than three decades.
The Men in Green suffered back-to-back defeats in their group matches against New Zealand in Karachi and India in Dubai, and then the Black Caps crushed Bangladesh to end the defending champions’ semifinals hopes in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Following the team’s horrific performance that has been the story since the 2023 ODI World Cup, fans and former cricketers went berserk at the selectors, captain, team management, PCB, and its chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
Sarfraz Nawaz was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz, “Yeah, I watch closely, and on and off, I write to the PCB chairman because he doesn't know much about cricket. I suggested things to him, but it's up to him what he does. Pakistan cricket is gone now.”
They don't know how to go about things: Sarfraz Nawaz on PCB officials
Reacting to the mess, the legendary fast bowler has directly blamed the PCB and its leadership for the Pakistan cricket team's downfall. Sarfraz Nawaz also pointed out that Pakistan cricket is in complete disarray due to the board being run by officials with no real experience of the game.
He also believes that the decision-makers lack the vision and knowledge needed to revive the team's fortunes. Nawaz explained, “I think it's because of all the PCB officials running the board. They are non-cricketers; they are bureaucrats. That's why I think they don't know how to go about things like that. They've picked people who previously destroyed Pakistan cricket.”

He also noted that the frequent changes in the leadership at the PCB and the team have only worsened the situation, leaving the Pakistan cricket in free fall.
Nawaz signed off by saying, “And then there are frequent changes in the PCB. Within a year and a half, there were three chairmen and four captains. What else do you expect?”
Sarfraz Nawaz criticizes Pakistan bowlers, calls the bowling attack club-level
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s bowling attack, which was once considered one of the most lethal in the world and their biggest strength, has lost its edge.
Sarfraz Nawaz criticized the lack of variety while pointing out that the Pakistani pacers struggle to deliver, and the spinners look ineffective. Nawaz compared Pakistani bowlers to club-level players.
The former pacer mentioned that Shaheen Afridi has not been the same bowler, saying his pace has dropped, and his line and length are not the same.
Naseem Shah was seen as their biggest find lately, but he also failed to deliver, and Nawaz has noted that the pacer bowls outside the off stump and his slow speed is causing him trouble.
At the end, the former cricketer was not really impressed with Haris Rauf’s line and length.
