Disagreements between cricket boards have now become a regular occurrence, with the latest dispute arising from the West Indies vs Pakistan series. The PCB and CWI are not on the same page with the schedule of the upcoming white ball series.
Cricket West Indies is looking to strengthen its ODI squad and give its players maximum exposure to the longer white-ball format. It was the first time in the history of West Indies Cricket that they could not qualify for the main tournament of the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2023.
On the other hand, Pakistan also had a humiliating exit from both the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, which was held at their home grounds. Despite this, they are looking to keep their focus on the shorter format, eyeing the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup.
PCB in disagreement over white-ball series with CWI
Both PCB and CWI had earlier decided to schedule a white-ball series between the two national sides to be held next month in the United States and the Caribbean.
The recent reports have suggested that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has insisted on changing the Caribbean leg of the tour. Cricbuzz reported that the PCB is insisting on playing only the shortest format and quitting the ODI format.
The teams are supposed to play three Twenty20 internationals and three ODIs in the US and the Caribbean, from the 1st to the 12th of August. The proposal has been made to convert the second leg of the series from ODIs to the T20 format.
"The schedule remains as it is, and we continue to engage with the PCB on the matter," CWI CEO Chris Dehring said, adding that the talks will continue on the sidelines of the ICC Annual Conference in Singapore.

Pakistan have their next tour scheduled in Bangladesh
Eyeing preparations for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 and the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 as well, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to schedule a tour of their national side to Bangladesh.
The Pakistan team is scheduled to play three T20I matches from July 20th to 24th. All three matches will be played in Mirpur.
Pakistan have announced their squad, as several greats from the side have missed the tournament, including Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and former skipper Mohammed Rizwan. The likes of Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf have also missed the tour due to injuries.
West Indies continue to host Aussies in T20s after Test series
After the completion of the 3-match red-ball series, the host side, West Indies, lost the series by a margin of 3-0 to the mighty Australians. This series will be followed by another 5-match T20I series, which is scheduled to be played from the 21st of July to the 29th of July.
The series will be important from the West Indies' point of view, as they prepare for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup, while the big all-rounder, Andre Russell, is set to retire from international cricket after the first two T20Is, which will be played in Jamaica.
