The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has been banned in India after the tragic terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22. India’s sports streaming platform FanCode was the digital streaming partner of the Pakistan Super League.

In the wake of a heinous terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the Indian government has swiftly taken diplomatic action against Pakistan, and now its impact is being seen in the sporting world as well. Notably, on Tuesday afternoon, a shocking and tragic incident took place in Pahalgam, where terrorists opened fire on tourists, claiming 26 innocent lives.

Following the attack, the Indian government closed the Attari border with immediate effect, cancelled the Indus Waters Treaty of 1960, and ordered Pakistani nationals to leave the country within a week, and the neighbors will not be allowed to travel to India under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme.

After these strong actions, FanCode has suspended the live streaming of the ongoing PSL 2025. The popular streaming app removed all Pakistan Super League-related videos and highlights, and the live broadcast has been stopped with immediate effect from April 24.

According to a report by the Times of India, fans in India will no longer have access to watch the PSL 2025 games, and any attempt to access content on the Fancode website returns with a 403 Forbidden error. However, Fancode hasn’t yet released any official statement.

PCB remains silent on FanCode’s decision

However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not made any official comment yet on FanCode’s decision to stop streaming the Pakistan Super League matches in India.

Earlier, during the IPL 2025 match between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 23, players from both teams wore black armbands and observed one minute of silence to show respect to the victims of the Pahalgam attack.

The 10th season of the Pakistan Super League began on April 11 and is set to run until May 18. This is the first time the tournament is clashing with the IPL, due to which the PCB struggled for broadcasting rights.

Now, following the Pahalgam terror attack, all streaming of PSL matches has been banned in India. There are also chances that Sony Network, the TV broadcast partner of PSL, might soon stop airing the matches as well.

Rajeev Shukla and Devajit Saikia strongly react to the Pahalgam attack

Meanwhile, BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla has made it clear that India will not play any bilateral series with Pakistan. He confirmed that their stance on bilateral ties with Pakistan will remain unchanged, but they will have to play them in the ICC events.

Rajeev Shukla was quoted as saying by Sports Tak, "We don’t play with Pakistan in bilateral series because of the government’s stance. And we will not play with Pakistan in bilaterals going forward.”

On the other hand, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia stated, “The cricketing community is deeply shocked and anguished by the tragic loss of innocent lives in the gruesome terror attack at Pahalgam yesterday. On behalf of the BCCI, while condemning this ghastly and cowardly act with the strongest possible words, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayers for the departed souls. In sharing their pain and grief, we stand hand in hand at this hour of tragedy.”
