PCB Organizes Pre-Season Training Camp For 26 White-Ball Players Starting Sunday

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is going to conduct a pre-season training camp for 26 men’s white-ball players, which will start on Sunday at the National High Performance Centre. That will be followed by practice matches at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

International players such as Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Imam-ul-Haq will join youngsters in the camp as the PCB eyes to finalize a squad for the T20 World Cup. The ones returning from the West Indies will join the camp after a few days of rest.

The camp will be supervised by the NHPC coaching and support staff, led by Saqlain Mushtaq, the Head of International Player Development.

Throughout the camp, the Covid-19 protocols will be followed, said the PCB in a released statement.

“During the camp, the players will work on their fitness and cricketing skills with a special emphasis on their preparation for the hectic white-ball international cricket season which begins next month,” a statement stated.

26 players asked by the PCB to take part in the camp:

Arshad Iqbal, Danish Aziz, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Hussain Talat, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imad Wasim, Imam-ul-Haq, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Haris (wicketkeeper), Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Salman Ali Agha, Shadab Khan, Sharjeel Khan, Sohaib Maqsood. Abrar Ahmed, Ahmed Bashir, Imran Randhawa, Mohammad Ilyas, Mohammad Imran, Muhammad Akhlaq, Raza Ali Dar, Rohail Nazir, Zeeshan Ashraf.

As for the national side, Babar Azam’s team are currently in West Indies. They lost the first Test match after winning the T20I series. They are scheduled to take on Afghanistan in Sri Lanka in a 3-ODI series next month before hosting New Zealand and England in limited-overs games ahead of the T20 World Cup.
