In a major move following the Asia Cup 2025 controversy, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken strict action after learning of irregularities and poor-quality team kits provided during the tournament. The board reportedly found serious lapses in transparency and quality control by its apparel partner.

As reported by the Pakistani journalist Qadir Khawaja, the Pakistan Cricket Board, headed by Mohsin Naqvi, has decided to end its partnership with its current apparel supplier after the controversial Asia Cup 2025 in the UAE. Notably, Pakistan lost the Asia Cup 2025 final to India in Dubai.

The PCB has now started searching for a new kit manufacturer to design fresh jerseys for all levels of Pakistan cricket, including the men’s, women’s, U19, and domestic teams. The board is considering a three-year or series-to-series agreement with the new vendor.

The final decision on the new official apparel partner is expected to be announced soon, as the Pakistan Cricket Board aims to ensure top-quality kits before the start of the upcoming international assignments. They are likely to finalize the new kit partner after the end of the South Africa series.

Mohammad Rizwan refuses to sign PCB contract after shock demotion

Meanwhile, Pakistan cricket has been hit by another controversy as star wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan has reportedly declined to sign his new central contract offered by the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Rizwan, who was once part of the elite Category A, was shockingly downgraded to Category B as the PCB made changes to its contractual format.

According to PTI, Rizwan is the only player among 30 contracted players who has refused to sign the deal after the board recently scrapped the top-tier Category A altogether.

The restructuring placed 10 players, including Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Rizwan, together under the same Category B bracket after Pakistan’s underwhelming performances over the past year.

Mohammad Rizwan demands PCB to reinstate Category A and freedom for the captain

It is being said that Rizwan is not happy with both his demotion and his recent removal as Pakistan’s ODI captain. The 33-year-old made it clear that he won’t sign the new deal unless the board reconsiders its structure and reinstates Category A for senior players.

He has also reportedly urged the PCB to give the team captain more independence in decision-making, demanding that the leader be allowed to work with full authority and without interference. Shaheen Afridi was recently made the ODI captain of the Men in Green.

They are currently facing South Africa in the three-match T20I series. Pakistan already lost the first T20I, and the second game is scheduled for October 31 in Lahore.
