Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi has responded after fast bowler Haris Rauf was fined 30% of his match fees for using abusive language during the Super 4 clash against India in the Asia Cup 2025. The PCB has reportedly announced its intention to appeal the decision on behalf of the pacer.
According to several reports, ICC punished Rauf for using bad words during the game. He attended an official hearing with ICC match referee Richie Richardson on Friday and pleaded "not guilty." It is worth noting that the ICC has not yet released an official statement about the punishment given to Rauf.

During the September 21 Super Fours match against India, Haris Rauf made controversial gestures toward the crowd, including a “6-0” signal, which many linked to Pakistan’s unverified claims of downing Indian fighter jets in Operation Sindoor. He also mimicked a crashing plane while fielding.
Earlier in the match, Rauf was involved in a heated verbal exchange with Indian batters Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma. He later used abusive language after dismissing wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson. However, the Men in Green lost the match by six wickets in Dubai.
These matches were the first India-Pakistan clashes after the Pahalgam terror attack in April, followed by Operation Sindoor and three days of cross-border strikes. Captains Suryakumar Yadav and Salman Ali Agha avoided handshakes before the toss in both Asia Cup games.

The BCCI lodged an official complaint on Wednesday against Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan for making provocative gestures during the Asia Cup.
Earlier, Pakistan had filed a complaint against India captain Suryakumar Yadav for dedicating the group-stage victory to the Pahalgam terror victims and the Indian Armed Forces. Suryakumar was reportedly asked to avoid politically sensitive remarks for the remainder of the tournament.
Pakistan lost both matches against India. However, they defeated Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in the Super Four stage to reach the final, where they will meet India for the third time in the tournament in Dubai on September 28. This will be the first Asia Cup final clash between the two archrivals.
