PCB's reputation tarnished as former coach reveals unacceptable humiliation caused by the board leading to resignation

Former Australian legend Jason Gillespie, who held the position of Pakistan's red-ball coach for nearly six months between April and November 2026, has cited the repeated humiliation caused by the PCB as the core reason behind his resignation.
PCB has never had consistency with coaches, especially in recent times. Over the last two years, several coaches have been repeatedly sacked by the PCB, or they have resigned from their roles. One among such names is former Australian pacer Jason Gillespie.
However, before Gillespie, there was former South African batter Gary Kirsten, who once served as a coach for India's World Cup-winning squad in 2011 and then went on to elevate South Africa to the no. 1 ranking in Test cricket. However, even the legendary coach resigned from the position of Pakistan's white-ball coach.
Jason Gillespie resigned after 8 months as Pakistan's coach
Jason Gillespie joined Pakistan back in April 2024 as their red-ball coach and later also filled in the position of white-ball coach as their interim coach. Though under his reign, Pakistan did not make the finest of starts, losing to Bangladesh 2-0 at home, yet they bounced back, and during his tenure, they finally broke their Test jinx with a 2-1 win over England.
He also made some audacious decisions, as Babar Azam, the batter, was dropped from Pakistan's Test XI citing poor form, and instead Kamran Ghulam was brought into the national setup, who also proved effective with a century on debut. However, throughout his coaching stint with Pakistan, the coach had several disagreements with the PCB.
During a question-and-answer session on X, Gillespie revealed that his disagreement with the Pakistan Cricket Board and the sacking of his senior assistant coach without any prior notice to him were the core reasons behind his resignation from the role.
"There were a number of issues that left me completely humiliated,” wrote Gillespie, citing the reason for his resignation
A user during the conversation session with Gillespie questioned his decision to opt out of Pakistan coaching, and the Australian had a quick reply up his sleeve. He alleged 'humiliation' at the hands of PCB.
“I was coaching the Pakistan Test side. The PCB sacked our senior assistant coach with ZERO communication with me about it—as Head Coach, I found this situation completely unacceptable. There were a number of other issues that left me completely humiliated,” Gillespie wrote in his reply on X.

Mohsin Naqvi's callousness within the PCB exposed by the former Pakistan coach
However, this is not the first time that the former Pakistan coach has fired at the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Pakistan management, as even during his coaching days with the Pakistan National team, he aimed at PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi for his ignorant attitude.
He explained a great connection camp organized by Gary Kirsten, and everyone, like Kirsten and Gillespie, flew in from South Africa and Australia, but Naqvi, who was in Lahore, did not drive 20 minutes to reach the venue and appeared in the meeting through a Zoom call.
“He is based in Lahore, but he did not come, while Gary came in from Africa. We both felt that the Chairman could not even drive 20 minutes to come here—that was a bit unusual,” said Gillespie.
Currently, the Pakistan team let go of Azhar Mahmood as their red ball coach three months before his tenure ended, while Mike Hesson continues as their white ball coach. It is to be noted who would be signed next as the red ball coach.
