Punjab Kings (PBKS) opener, Prabhsimran Singh, opens his mouth about the controversial incident between his teammate Arshdeep Singh and the Mumbai Indians batter Tilak Varma. An interaction between Arshdeep and Tilak went viral during the IPL 2026 season, which attracted a lot of controversy, even a demand to impose a ban on the Punjab Kings pacer as well.

Arshdeep Singh and Tilak Varma, who played a lot of cricket together, share a healthy bond and understanding with each other. The PBKS seamer was active on social media platforms regularly during most of the previous edition of the league.

Laxman Sivaramakrishnan asked BCCI to ban Arshdeep Singh

He uploaded multiple videos of the other players in the IPL. In one of his social media videos, Arshdeep Singh took a banter, referring to the skin tone of the Mumbai batter, which went viral across social media platforms.

While many cricket fans and followers considered the remarks only as a funny joke between two friends, some other fans across social media platforms accused the star pacer of racism. Former India cricketer Laxman Sivaramakrishnan asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to ban the left-arm pacer with immediate effect.

However, the board did not take any step against Arshdeep, and the incident remained as one of the most controversial off the field moment in the 2026 IPL campaign. Weeks passed after the viral video, but some of the cricket fans remained interested in it.

Prabhsimran Singh clears all controversies

During an exclusive interaction with Insidesport, India A team batter and the PBKS opener clears the air around the incident. Prabhsimran mentioned that his PBKS teammate, Arshdeep, had no bad intentions behind calling Tilak Varma “Andhere” (darkness) and the other Mumbai Indians batter, Naman Dhir, “asli noor” (real brightness).

“They (Arshdeep Singh and Tilak Varma) are really good friends. They can do anything to each other. It also depends on us as to how we take personal things. The two have played so much cricket together, so people should leave the matter to them,” Prabhsimran Singh said in conversation with InsideSport.

Arshdeep caused controversial moments multiple times during the previous IPL season as his camera captured multiple candid shots and off-field moments. One of the videos of the Punjab-born, his Punjab Kings teammate Yuzvendra Chahal, vaping inside a plane secretly.

The video went viral amid another secret inside. Rajasthan Royals skipper Riyan Parag was spotted vaping inside their dressing room during a live match of the league. Footage of Chahal emerged on social media platforms days after Parag’s incident.

What happened to Arshdeep after the viral videos?

There is no doubt that some of the videos of Arshdeep Singh did not go according to plan, as they fetched a lot of negative feedback. Prabhsimran Singh mentions that despite the difficulties, Arshdeep Singh kept his character unchanged.

“No (Arshdeep wasn’t affected). It’s a good thing about his character that he remains the same way in both highs and lows. Everyone knows how hard-working he is. Now that’ll be wrong if you judge his cricket performances because of his life incidents,” Prabhsimran informed.
