Team India fast bowler Prasidh Krishna provided a massive update on skipper Jasprit Bumrah's injury scare after Day 2 of the fifth Border-Gavaskar series Test in Sydney. Prasidh Krishna said that Jasprit Bumrah had a back spasm and that the medical team is monitoring him for the must-win game in the series.

Bumrah left the dressing room and the stadium midway through the second session on Day 2. After bowling just one over post-lunch, the pace bowler did not return to the field. With Bumrah's absence, Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna took over the pace bowling duties for India in bowling out Australia.

Jasprit Bumrah appeared to be holding his back as he walked off and was seen changing into his training gear. The right-arm pacer had to go off the field for scans and was escorted by the support staff to a team car. He later returned to the venue in Sydney and went directly into the dressing room.

Prasidh Krishna confirmed in a press conference that Bumrah experienced a back spasm. He added that the medical team is monitoring Bumrah's condition. Krishna mentioned that the medical team would provide further updates on his status.

Jasprit Bumrah Had Bowled 53 Overs In The Boxing Day Test Recently

Bumrah's workload had been a concern throughout the series, with India unable to give their key pacer any rest. The early finishes in the series, along with a drawn match in Brisbane, allowed some flexibility, but the demanding 53-over stint in the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne took its toll.

Bumrah had bowled extensively across both innings in Melbourne and, with only a brief recovery time before the Sydney Test, the accumulated fatigue became evident.

In the Sydney Test, Bumrah bowled 10 overs in the first innings before leaving the field with an injury. His heavy workload, especially without sufficient rest, contributed to the physical strain he experienced.

As Many Runs As Possible Would Be Great For Us - Prasidh Krishna

Prasidh Krishna shared that the Indian team has no set target in mind and is ready to bowl whatever comes their way. At the end of Day 2, India had a 145-run lead with four wickets remaining. Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja, the last recognized pair, remained unbeaten.

India remains focused on maximizing their total despite the challenging conditions on the green top in Sydney. Krishna emphasized that the team is confident, motivated, and ready to fight, irrespective of the target they end up setting.

"As many runs as possible would be great for us. No particular number in mind. We are ready to bowl whatever is infront of us. The team is pumped up. We are confident about the plans and are here for the fight," Prasidh Krishna added.
