Priya Punia's Mother Passes Away Due To Covid-19

The second wave of the Wuhan Virus has caused a lot of damage in the country with almost every family losing their loved ones.

In another tragic development, Indian Women’s team cricketer Priya Punia has lost her mother due to the deadly contagion.

The cricketer took to her Instagram account to announce the tragic news.

Punia, in an emotional post, shared pictures where she can be seen with her mother and the rest of his family members.

She penned down a heartwarming post for her deceased mother besides urging everyone to follow all the protocols in order to avert getting infected by the virus.

“Today I realized why you always told me to be strong. You knew that one day I would need the strength to bear the loss of yours. I miss you so mom! No matter the distance I know you are always there with me. My guiding star, my mom. Love you always. Some truths in life are hard to accept. Your memories will never be forgotten! Rest In Peace Mom. Please follow the rules and take precautions. This virus is very dangerous. Wear a mask, maintain social distancing, stay safe and stay strong,” wrote Priya Punia.

Priya Punia isn’t the only cricketer who has lost one of her closest family members due to the pandemic. Earlier, former Indian cricketers RP Singh and Piyush Chawla lost their respective fathers while Priya’s fellow teammate Veda Krishnamurthy has suffered a double blow with the tragic demise of his mother and sister.

As far as Priya Punia’s international career is concerned, the right-handed batter who score a swashbuckling unbeaten 75 against South Africa in her debut WODI in 2019, has featured in 5 WODIs and 3 WT20s. She was recently named in the Indian Test squad for the one-off five-day game during the upcoming tour of England.
