Punjab Break RCB's Record Of Highest T20 Total By An Indian Team As They Post 275 Against Andhra

Punjab, on Tuesday (October 17), recorded the highest-ever T20 total by an Indian team. They achieved the feat during their game against Andhra Pradesh at the JSCA Stadium in Ranchi in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023 match against Andhra Pradesh at the JSCA stadium in Ranchi on Tuesday.
Punjab posted a huge total of 275/6 in the allotted 20 overs after their captain Mandeep Singh won the toss and elected to bowl first. The architect of the huge score was opener Abhishek Sharma who scored 112 runs off just 51 balls to lay the foundation for the big total. And a whirlwind knock of 87 runs from just 26 balls from Anmolpreet Singh helped Punjab finish their innings strongly.
Opening the innings, Abhishek Sharma hit 9 fours and as many sixes. On the other hand, Anmolpreet smashed 6 fours and 9 sixes. For Andhra, no bowler could maintain an economy rate of less than. Harishankar Reddy was the most expensive bowler, conceding 66 runs in his four overs while Prithvi Raj (63) and Tripura Vijay (58) also conceded more than 50 runs in their four overs.
Punjab records highest total:
Punjab broke Royal Challengers Bangalore’s record of highest total by an Indian team in T20s. RCB had scored 263 runs against Pune Warriors India in IPL 2013. Punjab now holds the record for the highest total in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy too, breaking Mumbai’s record of scoring 258 against Sikkim in 2019.
The Mandeep Singh-led team also broke the record for the most sixes hit by an Indian T20 team with 22, surpassing RCB’s 21 from the same game in 2013.
