The upcoming IPL 2025 clash between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings, originally scheduled for May 11 at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala, is likely to be moved to Mumbai due to heightened security alerts in Punjab.
This came after India’s strong military response—Operation Sindoor—which targeted nine terror camps across Pakistan and PoJK in revenge for the recent Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives.
Punjab Kings' Dharamshala matches could be shifted as BCCI reviews safety
With Punjab airports on high alert and Dharamshala located near the border, BCCI is reportedly considering relocating not just the Punjab Kings versus Mumbai Indians fixture but also the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals game on May 8 at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala.
As reported by Sports Tak, the Punjab Kings versus Delhi Capitals IPL 2025 match could face cancellation or rescheduling due to the potential visibility risk posed by floodlights. BCCI is currently in discussions with the Indian government and is awaiting official clearance for the upcoming matches.
Delhi Capitals vs Punjab Kings to go ahead despite security concerns!!
Despite the war-like situation following India's Operation Sindoor, the Delhi Capitals versus Punjab Kings match on May 8 will go ahead as scheduled in Dharamsala, as reported by India Today. The Delhi team managed to land in the hill station just before the airport was shut down due to heightened security concerns in the region.
With airports across northwest India still closed, the Delhi Capitals are now expected to travel by road to New Delhi for their next fixture against the Gujarat Titans on May 11. While travel has become complicated amid rising cross-border tensions, a senior BCCI source has assured that the IPL 2025 will continue as planned.
Meanwhile, PBKS have been in sensational form in the ongoing IPL 2025, winning 7 out of their 11 matches so far. They are just shy of a top-two spot on the points table. Prabhsimran Singh has been in great form, giving the team strong starts and scoring 437 runs so far.

Punjab Kings dominate IPL 2025 with all-round brilliance
Captain Shreyas Iyer has led from the front with 405 runs, including four half-centuries, and has smashed 27 sixes — the second most this season. His smart captaincy is also on point. Youngster Priyansh Arya has grabbed his opportunities well, scoring 347 runs, while Nehal Wadhera and Shashank Singh have chipped in during crucial moments.
As PBKS prepares to face Delhi Capitals, all eyes will be on how DC’s bowlers, including Mitchell Starc, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Vipraj Nigam, handle Punjab’s strong batting. Delhi will also hope for better performances from fast bowlers Dushmantha Chameera and Mukesh Kumar.
Well, Yuzvendra Chahal's return to his form has been a big boost for PBKS this season. The leg-spinner has picked up 14 wickets so far, including a memorable hat-trick against Chennai Super Kings. Chahal’s performances have strengthened Punjab’s bowling lineup.
However, Marco Jansen, Azmatullah Omarzai, Vijaykumar Vyshak, and Marcus Stoinis have also been impressive with the ball so far. PBKS have a balanced bowling attack that’s helped Punjab to deliver in the tournament so far.
