Former Indian cricketer Saba Karim said that the Indian team is ready to play on any type of wicket with the quality of players it has at its disposal.

India recently clinched the two-match Test series against New Zealand 1-0. After a nail-biting contest in Kanpur that ended in a draw, Virat Kohli & co thumped the Black Caps by 372 runs in the Mumbai Test to wrap the game in four days.

We have the players who can win matches in every condition: Saba Karim

Indian pitches are famously known to assist the spin bowlers and make life difficult for the batters. But in Kanpur the ball wasn’t turning as usual and somehow it benefitted the New Zealand tail to survive the final session.

After examining both the games, Karim believes Indian team is prepared to play on any challenging track apart from spin.

Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli are prepared to play on any type of track. We have the ability and the players who can win matches in every condition. The two Test matches against New Zealand have indicated the same,” Karim said on Khelneeti YouTube channel.

Karim also talked about the mental security of the players in the Test team and feels that head coach Dravid must give value to each member of the squad.

His job is to focus on communicating well to ensure that every player in the team feels he is an important member. Players will feel settled if there are these talks within the team. Because at times players play to retain their spot in the side. This situation should not arise. There will be ups and downs, but if a player feels he has a coach and a captain who are ready to back him, then he becomes more confident,” Karim said.

India will be touring South Africa to play three Test matches and as many ODIs, the tour commences on December 26 with the first Test in Centurion.
