Former Team India head coach Rahul Dravid recently shared humorous remarks on his wild celebrations after winning the T20 World Cup 2024.

Rahul Dravid said that his sons could've teased him for his celebrations if he had continued as head of the India national cricket team.

Dravid never won a World Cup as a player in his illustrious career. However, the 51-year-old received the perfect farewell as a coach.

The Men in Blue defeated South Africa to win the 2024 T20 World Cup. He burst into wild celebrations after Virat Kohli handed him the World Cup Trophy.

The former cricketer was devastated by the loss against Australia in the 2023 ODI World Cup final.

However, he decided to extend his tenure as coach for another six months. This decision proved to be fruitful for him as India ended an 11-year ICC trophy drought in Barbados on June 29.

We Strived To Achieve Something Together - Rahul Dravid

Reflecting on his wild celebration after the World Cup win, Rahul Dravid said that his children might have teased him for not following his advice about staying calm under pressure. He admitted that he always tells his sons to maintain their balance and remain cool.

"We strived to achieve something together. When you come to the end of it, you have moments like that. It's great to celebrate. I try to avoid showing that to my children, thinking I've gone mad or something," Dravid said at the CEAT Awards, the full version of which was released on Sunday.

"But yeah, I was always telling the boys we got to maintain our balance, and remain cool, not go up and down with results. Thank god it was my last game, otherwise after that, they would have said 'You're saying one thing but doing something else'," he added.

Samit (18) and Anvay (14) are emerging cricketers. Samit has already impressed with his performances at the junior level.

He recently played for the Mysuru Warriors in the Maharaja T20. Samit also earned a call-up to India’s Under-19 squad for the upcoming home series against Australia U19.

They Only Show You Lovely Things - Rahul Dravid

Rahul Dravid said that even the greatest cricketers face more failures than successes throughout their careers.

Dravid said that awards highlight only positive moments, but the reality is a list of failures and disappointments.

"The beauty of awards like this is that they only show you lovely things that you've done on a cricket field. But the honest fact is, and that's the truth, is that you're failing a lot more than you're succeeding in this game. The list of failures and disappointment would be a lot as well in a long career," Dravid added.

Dravid guided the India team to the finals of the World Test Championship (WTC), the ODI World Cup 2023, and the T20 World Cup 2024.

However, the Men in Blue lost the WTC and ODI World Cup finals to Australia. The former Indian head coach ended his tenure on a winning note with an ICC trophy.
