Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal feels that his counterpart Rashid Khan is the best-ranked spinner above all the spin bowlers of the current time.
Rashid picked eight wickets from five matches for Afghanistan in the recently concluded T20 World Cup in UAE.
During the tournament, the Afghanistan spinner became the fastest bowler to achieve 100 wickets in T20 Internationals.
Rashid Khan is in a different league: Yuzvendra Chahal
Chahal, who also happens to be in the league of greatest spinners of the current generation, said that Rashid is in a different league.
“Rashid Khan is in a different league. I believe he is a cut above the rest like we used to talk about Muralidharan sir or Shane Warne sir. My calling card is mindgame. I don’t try fancy variations. I back whatever variations I have,” Chahal told Times of India.
I felt really bad: Yuzvendra Chahal on being dropped from India’s T20 World Cup squad
Chahal was excluded from India’s T20 World Cup squad despite being the team’s highest wicket-taker before the tournament.
After being ignored by the selectors, Chahal ended up taking 18 wickets in IPL for RCB at an economy rate of 7.05.
Chahal admitted that he felt bad after being dropped from the squad, but he motivated himself after speaking to close ones.
“I was not dropped in four years and then I got dropped for such a marquee event. I felt really bad. I was down for two-three days. But then I knew the second leg of the IPL was still around the corner,” Chahal said.
“I went back to my coaches and spoke to them a lot. My wife and family were constantly encouraging me. My fans kept putting out motivational posts. That buoyed me. I decided to back my strengths and overcome my confusion. I couldn’t have sulked for long because that would have impacted my IPL form,” he added.
India finished third on the points table of Group 2 after losing their first two matches against Pakistan and New Zealand in the Super 12 stage.
