According to the reports, the current Head Coach of the India National Cricket Team, Ravi Shastri, is expected to take over the commentators role after his tenure with team India ends. Also, the current batting coach of India, Vikram Rathour, is expected to apply for the Head Coach role.

Meanwhile, the process to select India’s new Head Coach, Batting Coach, Bowling Coach, fielding coach, and Head Sports Science/Medicine with National Cricket Academy (NCA) has already begun on Sunday. The BCCI released a statement inviting applications for the positions.

Applications for the position of head coach (Team India -Senior Men) should be submitted by 5 PM on October 26, applications for the position of batting coach (Team India -Senior Men) should be submitted by 5 PM on November 03, 2021, and applications for the position of bowling coach (Team India -Senior Men) should be submitted by 5 PM on November 03, 2021.”

The BCCI will give all the coaches a two-year contract, and Head Sports Science has a preset retirement age. Also, all the candidates who are below 60 years of age are only eligible for the positions.

Ravi Shastri will turn 60 next year, bowling coach Bharat Arun will be 59 in December, batting coach Vikram Rathour is currently 52 and fielding Coach R Sridhar is 51. Although all the above-mentioned names are eligible to apply for the position, only Vikram Rathour is expected to apply for the Head Coach and batting coach positions.

Talking about Ravi Shastri, he wants to ‘slow down’ in his career after consistently working for 42 years of life as a cricketer, commentator and then as a coach.

He’ll be selective. He’ll be open to working with an IPL franchise. Year-round travel is something he would like to avoid now,” say those who have his ear.

Also, if Shastri wants to become a commentator once again, industry executives say:

he’ll be welcomed with a red carpet. Tell me a voice that is more identifiable than his”.

Meanwhile, BCCI has not yet appointed a Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) that will interview the new coaching lineup; if the reports are to be believed, BCCI will introduce a completely new CAC to interview the coaches.

Also, some reports claim that legendary Indian batsman Rahul Dravid is all set to become the next Head Coach of India and if this is true, he will have to go through the same interview process.
