Star Indian spinner Ravindra Jadeja is confident in his team's chances of securing a historic third consecutive Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) series win in Australia. Ravindra Jadeja made these comments ahead of the fourth Test match in the ongoing five-match series, scheduled to be played in Melbourne.

The five-match Test series between India and Australia is currently tied at 1-1 after the rain-affected third Test match in Brisbane ended in a draw. The Indian national cricket team started the series by securing a dominant 295-run win in the first Test at Optus Stadium, led by stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah.

However, Australia, led by Pat Cummins, made a strong comeback with a dominant 10-wicket win in the second Test, a day-night match at the Adelaide Oval. It's worth mentioning that India has won the last four Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia, including two series victories on Australian soil.

"We Are in a Good Position, After Three Matches" - Ravindra Jadeja

Speaking at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Saturday, Ravindra Jadeja admitted that the series is tied at 1-1 after three matches. Jadeja noted that even a single win in the remaining two Tests would secure the series for India. He said that their focus now is on the Boxing Day Test.

"We are in a good position, after three matches, it's still 1-1. It is going to be interesting. Even if we win one match out of the next two, we will retain the series because we have won the last two times here. It's a good opportunity to push ourselves and do well in Melbourne. Yes, we will worry about the last match later, the focus now is on the Boxing Day Test. It's a crucial game for us," Jadeja said.

Ravindra Jadeja Played a Crucial 77-run Knock in the Third Test

Ravindra Jadeja played a crucial knock of 77 runs off 123 balls in India's third Test against Australia, helping the team avoid the follow-on after they were reduced to 74/5. He added 67 runs with KL Rahul for the sixth wicket and 53 runs with Nitish Kumar Reddy for the seventh wicket to help avoid the follow-on.

Jasprit Bumrah is the highest wicket-taker with 21 wickets at an impressive average of 10.90. Mohammed Siraj is the only other bowler with more than four wickets for India.

India Needs One More Win to Retain Border-Gavaskar Trophy

Australia dominated early in the third Test against India in Brisbane. The home team posted a total of 445 runs with centuries from Travis Head and Steve Smith. In response, the Rohit Sharma-led team struggled with a collapse from top-order batters, but rain interruptions helped the match end in a draw.

With the series tied 1-1, the fourth Test, which will commence on Thursday, December 26, at the MCG, is crucial for both teams. This match could determine the series winner and influence both teams' paths to the World Test Championship (WTC) final in 2025, which will be played at Lord's in June next year.
