Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) started their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 campaign with a victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). However, a hilarious off-field moment grabbed attention as franchise entertainer Mr. Nags humorously trolled former skipper Virat Kohli during a recent team video.

The defending champions defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by six wickets in the series opener at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on March 28. They chased down a 202-run target in just 15.4 overs in front of their home crowd. Kohli smashed an unbeaten half-century in the victory during their first match.

During the popular RCB Insider segment, Nags questioned Kohli about online rumours. He said that fans believe Royal Challengers Bengaluru broke IPL rules by playing five overseas players instead of the allowed four.

"There are many things that people say on social media about you. You know, people are saying RCB is playing five overseas players. I am not understanding what they are saying actually," Nags asked.

"I don't know, why are you asking me? Ask the overseas players, why are you asking me? I am not an overseas player," Kohli replied.

Phil Salt, Tim David, Romario Shepherd, and Jacob Duffy were the four overseas players in the RCB lineup. Nags joked because Kohli spends significant personal off-time residing in London with his family.

Kohli anchored the massive chase against the Sunrisers Hyderabad bowling attack. Devdutt Padikkal smashed 61 runs off just 26 balls, including seven fours and four sixes during the match.

New overseas fast bowler Jacob Duffy also delivered a magnificent performance. Duffy won the Player of the Match award after taking three crucial wickets. He dismantled the Sunrisers Hyderabad batting lineup by removing Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Nitish Kumar Reddy.

The 37-year-old batter will next play when Royal Challengers Bengaluru face Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday, April 5.
