The open bus victory parade planned by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to celebrate their historic IPL triumph with the fans has been cancelled.
The Bengaluru Police has not given the franchise permission for the parade due to heavy traffic congestion in the city.
RCB had announced a victory parade
The Bengaluru-based outfit had announced a victory parade in the Garden City following their 6-run win over Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 final on Tuesday (June 3) at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The team was scheduled to reach Bengaluru at 1:30 PM IST, and the parade was set to take place after the arrival.
The parade was scheduled to begin around 3:30 PM IST at Vidhana Soudha, with M Chinnaswamy Stadium being the ending point.
However, the police have not given the permission for the parade. As a result, there will only be a felicitation ceremony for the team at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in the evening. Before going to the stadium, the RCB players and the support staff will also meet Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah at Vidhana Soudha.
While usually all the fans are allowed in the stadium during a felicitation event, RCB has decided to restrict entry, and only ticket and pass holders will be allowed. The attendees have also been advised to use the Metro and other public transport due to limited parking at the stadium.
Here is the full schedule for RCB's felicitation ceremony:
- No victory parade.
- Players and support staff to meet Karnataka Chief Minister at Vidhana Soudha.
- Felicitation ceremony to take place at the Chinnaswamy Stadium from 5PM to 6PM.
- Entry restricted to ticket / pass holders only.
- Public advised to use the Metro and other public transport.
RCB's historic triumph:
Coming to the game, RCB beat Punjab Kings by 6 runs to clinch their maiden IPL title. After 17 years and losing three finals, the Bengaluru-based outfit finally won the title-decider and claimed the elusive IPL trophy.
Asked to bat first, RCB posted a challenging total of 190/9 in the allotted 20 overs. Virat Kohli top-scored for his side, scoring 43 runs, while the likes of Mayank Agarwal, Jitesh Sharma, Rajat Patidar, and Liam Livingstone played crucial knocks as well.
In reply, Punjab Kings finished their innings on 184/7. Shashank Singh scored an unbeaten 61 but could not take his team home. Krunal Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar impressed with the ball for RCB, taking 2 wickets each.
