In a heartwarming gesture, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have extended financial support to the victims of the tragic stampede that happened during the team's victory celebration on Wednesday (June 4).

The RCB fans were celebrating the team's maiden IPL title. Earlier this week, the Bengaluru-based outfit beat Punjab Kings by 6 runs in a thrilling final at the Narendra Modi Stadium to win their first-ever IPL title.

However, the grand celebration in the Garden City descended into chaos after a stampede broke out outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Police failed to control the huge crowd, and the stampede eventually resulted in the death of 11 people while more than 30 suffered serious injuries.

Even though the Bengaluru police had warned the franchise and the state government not to conduct a parade, their warning was ignored.

RCB's heartwarming gesture for victims:

On Thursday (June 5), RCB announced a financial aid of INR 10 lakh for each of the 11 families who lost their loved ones during the tragic incident. Expressing their anguish over the incident, the IPL champions also launched a special fund, 'RCB Cares,' to aid those who sustained injuries during the stampede.

"The unfortunate incident in Bengaluru yesterday has caused a lot of anguish and pain to the RCB family. As a mark of respect and a gesture of solidarity, RCB has announced a financial support of INR 10 lakh to each of the eleven families of the deceased," stated the franchise.

"In addition, a fund called RCB Cares is also being created to support fans injured in this tragic incident. Our fans will always remain at the heart of everything that we do. We remain united in grief."

Earlier, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced INR 10 lakh aid for victims' families and ordered a magisterial inquiry. Siddaramaiah also announced free treatment for the injured persons. While addressing the media, the CM also expressed his shock over the huge crowd that gathered to celebrate the historic IPL title.

"The turnout was far beyond what we anticipated. In front of Vidhana Soudha, nearly one lakh people had gathered, but there were no incidents there.

"However, at Chinnaswamyy Stadium, there were casualties. No one, neither the cricket association nor the government, expected this, as the stadium has a seating capacity of about 35,000. We assumed only a slightly larger crowd would show up. But almost two to three lakh people gathered," Siddaramaiah said.
