Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) seem to have taken off for a vacation to the Maldives in the middle of IPL 2026.

They are currently second on the IPL 2025 points table with 6 wins from 9 matches. Their last match was against the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad on April 30. The gap between their next match and the last one is 7 days.

Jacob Duffy uploads an Instagram story, confirming the Maldives vacation

RCB and New Zealand pacer Jacob Duffy posted a story to his official Instagram account depicting a resort pool with the location tagged as the Maldives.

The players aren't the first bunch involved in IPL 2026 to jet off to the Maldives. Earlier this week, Kolkata Knight Riders mentor Dwayne Bravo flew to the Maldives and posted so on his Instagram stories.

Last year, Delhi Capitals' mentor Kevin Pietersen had jetted off to the island nation in the middle of the IPL as well.

RCB in IPL 2026

Currently, the defending champions are placed second on the points table in IPL 2026. With 12 points from 9 matches, they are looking strong to make the playoffs.

The Rajat Patidar-led team displayed early dominance in the league before a small stutter. Interestingly, RCB have repeated the pattern of two wins followed by a loss three times this season. Currently, RCB's Bhuvneshwar Kumar holds the Purple Cap while Virat Kohli is the team's highest run scorer. Kohli also held the Orange Cap on multiple occasions this season.

In their last match, a blistering start in the powerplay was nullified by a middle-order collapse as GT ran roughshod over the team in Ahmedabad. RCB only managed 155 in that game. Despite Bhuvneshwar's fighting spell, the total didn't prove to be a real challenge for GT.

The Bengaluru-based franchise also has the best net run rate in the tournament, courtesy of their dismantling of Delhi Capitals in Delhi on April 27. The bowlers restricted DC to a total of just 75 runs, and the batters needed just 39 balls to chase it down.

The team has also completed all their matches at their primary home ground, the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. They will play both their remaining home matches - vs Mumbai Indians on 10 May and vs Kolkata Knight Riders on 13 May - at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur.

RCB next match

The team's next match comes after a long gap of one week. Royal Challengers Bengaluru will face Lucknow Super Giants on May 7 in their next match. The defending champions have already defeated LSG once this season, which was at their own home ground in Bengaluru.

The encounter next Thursday will be held at the Bharat Ratna Sri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. LSG are currently on a five-match losing streak and have another match with the Mumbai Indians on May 3 before taking on the Bengaluru-based side.
