RCB to be banned from IPL!! Karnataka Government initiates legal proceedings

The Karnataka Government, after considering the report presented by Justice John Michael D'Cunha, has held RCB and the other parties responsible for the treacherous stampede that occurred at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Royal Challengers Bangalore won their maiden IPL title in the IPL 2025 season, and as a result of this, a huge victory celebration was arranged by DNA Network at the initiative of the RCB and the Karnataka State Cricket Association.
The home ground of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru looked like a battlefield after it was overcrowded with a larger number of fans than expected. That unwanted chaos led to people stepping over each other, as a result of which 11 people lost their lives and several more were injured.
Karnataka Government Resorts to Legal Action for RCB Stampede
The Karnataka Government has approved the findings of Justice John Michael D'Cunha's report on the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium stampede that occurred in Bengaluru.
On the 24th of July, the Karnataka Cabinet decided to initiate legal action against multiple parties, which will include the IPL winner Royal Challengers Bangalore, the Karnataka State Cricket Association, and the event management company DNA network.
After the State Cabinet meeting, the Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister of Karnataka, HK Patil, cleared the decision to the press with a briefing and also reported that a departmental inquiry has been staged against the 5 suspended police officers who failed to manage the situation during the stampede.
Legal Action will include both civil and criminal cases
The Justice Michael Cunha-led judicial inquiry report submitted to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on the Chinnaswamy stampede indicts Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the DNA Network, and the KSCA as the responsible parties to be blamed for the mismanagement.
“I am yet to read the findings and recommendations of the judicial inquiry commission. The report will be tabled in the next Cabinet meeting scheduled for July 17, where it will be discussed threadbare, and the Cabinet will decide on the next course of action,” said CM Siddaramaiah, after which the Cabinet has now come forward with a major decision.
When asked whether legal action involved filing criminal cases against the organisers of the event, including RCB, Mr. Patil said, “Legal action includes both civil and criminal cases.”
The minister also assured that a departmental inquiry to be staged on several officers who were suspended following their inability to control the crowd. He also mentioned that whoever is responsible for the stampede has been indicated in Justice D'Cunha's report.

RCB won the first IPL title in 18 years
This Stampede situation might have sunk the hearts of many cricket fans as well as people of India; however, the Royal Challengers Bangalore made all their fans proud with their maiden title win after a long wait of 18 years.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru and their most veteran player, Virat Kohli, have toiled hard, played several finals and playoffs, and have been eagerly waiting for this historic moment.
The year 2025 has been a year for first-timers, as RCB managed to lift the title and will play the next season as the defending champions.
