RCB wicket-keeper declares Vaibhav Sooryavanshi as 'unprofessional'

Indian youngster Vaibhav Sooryavanshi would undoubtedly be the most anticipated player going into IPL 2026, but his former captain has made a shocking revelation ahead of the tournament.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi took the world by storm ever since he made his debut in the IPL in 2025. He scored a century in his debut season, that too the second fastest in the history of the IPL, showing a glimpse of what was going to come. He scored centuries in South Africa, England, and Australia, even before he turned 15.
The player who showed every calibre to be India's future maverick in the sport has been deemed as an unprofessional by the RCB wicket-keeper Jitesh Sharma. He led the youngsters as the captain of India A in the Emerging Men's Asia Cup.

The India A skipper, who led Vaibhav Sooryavanshi earlier, agreed to invest a million dollars on the Rajasthan Royals youngster. He was bought for a whopping INR 1.10 crores by the Rajasthan Royals, that too as a 13-year-old youngster.
“Right now, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. I feel he can dominate world cricket. He has gear No. 6 and a very good set of skills,” said Jitesh when asked to name one youngster he would invest a million dollars in.
Sooryavanshi was India's highest run-getter in the Emerging Men's Asia Cup under the leadership of Jitesh Sharma. Whenever he has failed to score many runs for India, the Men in Blue youth side has struggled across different formats and different competitions.

Legendary South African batter AB de Villiers, who was known as a monstrous hitter of the white ball and holds records such as the fastest List A hundred ever, praised the Indian youngster. He also claimed that he was in awe after witnessing the way he manhandled the South African bowlers in the U19 World Cup.
"He’s a great player. I watched him in the Under-19s. It’s not always easy when you get the taste of IPL and big cricket, and still show the same kind of standard. I was very impressed with the way he played in that World Cup. Very professional. He’s very mature for his age,” said the former South Africa captain.
“I’m talking about the way he played. He still kept to his game plan. He played the same way he played the IPL. Didn’t try to be something else. He wasn’t arrogant against the bowlers. But he will get professional," ABD added.

Though Jitesh also praised the stunning skillset of the Rajasthan Royals youngster, he kept opposing ABD on his claim that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will be a professional oneday. However, the RCB star did not think so.
“He’s not professional. I can tell you that. Everyone is trying to get him to be professional, but I don’t think he will ever get professional," he said.
"He may be on the field, but off the field, he won’t. I’m trying my best. I ask him not to have ice-cream in the night,” the RCB wicket-keeper claimed.
