The Karnataka High Court has ordered the state government to share a copy of the status report on the June 4 stampede at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Notably, the court rejected the plea to keep the report confidential, stating that they were just "facts as perceived" by the government.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured their maiden IPL 2025 title win at the Narendra Modi Stadium on June 3. However, the celebrations turned tragic when a massive crowd gathered outside the stadium in Bengaluru, leading to the death of 11 people and injuries to more than 50 others in the stampede.
Karnataka High Court Orders Release of RCB Stampede Report
According to a report by The Times of India, the Karnataka High Court asked the state government to make public its report on the stampede. Notably, the court rejected the government’s plea to keep the report confidential.
The bench stated that confidentiality applies only in cases involving national security, public interest, or personal privacy - none of which were relevant.
The government has also been ordered to provide copies of the report to all parties involved in the case, including the Royal Challengers Bengaluru franchise, the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), and DNA Entertainment Networks, RCB’s event partner.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru Awaiting Outcome of CID Probe into Stampede Incident
RCB is awaiting the outcome of a Criminal Investigation Department (CID) probe. Senior officials from Royal Challengers Bengaluru and their event partner, DNA Entertainment Networks, have already submitted their testimonies, but a final judgment date has yet to be announced.
The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) held Royal Challengers Bengaluru responsible for drawing an estimated crowd of three to five lakh people outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium by announcing their victory parade on social media following their maiden IPL title win on June 3.
Vikash Kumar, the Inspector General and Additional Commissioner of Police (Bengaluru West), was among five senior officers dismissed by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the wake of the stampede.
The government had cited “substantial dereliction of duty” and failure to manage the crowd as reasons for their removal. However, the tribunal stated that RCB had proceeded with the celebration without securing the required regulatory approvals.
RCB Ended 18-Year Wait for IPL Title
Royal Challengers Bengaluru finally ended their 18-year title drought by winning their maiden IPL trophy. RCB finished second in the league stage with nine wins and 19 points from 14 matches, securing a top-two spot.
They delivered a commanding performance against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the first qualifier, securing an eight-wicket victory and sealing their place in the final.
Bengaluru posted a competitive 190/9 after batting first in the title clash. They restricted PBKS to 184/7, securing a thrilling six-run win. It was Royal Challengers Bengaluru's first-ever IPL title after previously falling short in the finals of 2009, 2011, and 2016.
