Renuka Singh Thakur reprimanded by umpire in Women’s World Cup final after attacking Tazmin Brits

The 29-year-old India Women's National Cricket Team pacer Renuka Singh Thakur looked quite aggressive with the ball during the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 final.
India Women's National Cricket Team are currently taking on the South Africa Women's National Cricket Team in the final of the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai.
Renuka Singh Thakur warned by the umpire
After India posted a target of 299 runs on the board for South Africa Women in the high-octane ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 final, it was up to the bowlers to take the team off to a good start.
Pacers Kranti Gaud and Renuka Singh Thakur tried their very best and bowled some tight lines and lengths at the start, but they were unable to get any breakthroughs.
The failure to bag a wicket seemed to have frustrated the senior pacer, and it came out during the 10th over. On the first ball of the 10th over, Renuka Singh Thakur bowled a very full ball to Tazmin Brits outside off-stump.
Brits drove the ball back towards Renuka Singh Thakur, who quickly picked up the ball and fired a brutal throw at the Proteas batter, who ensured that the ball didn't hit her, and it hit the stumps.
This act of Renuka Singh Thakur didn't sit well with the umpire Jacqueline Williams, who instantly summoned her and gave a brutal bashing. India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur quickly joined the matter to support her player as the umpire reprimanded her.

Speaking at the toss, ahead of the start of the play, India Women's skipper Harmanpreet Kaur stated that they are back in the rhythm and was hopeful of her team batting freely.
She further said that they enjoyed the semi-final win against Australia Women's and got two days to recover pretty well from the match. She elaborated:
"We would’ve bowled first as well, given the weather and conditions. But yeah, it’s an important game, and somehow it feels like we’re back in rhythm. Hopefully, we can bat freely and put up a strong total on the board. This one’s a little sticky (pitch) because of the rain and the overhead conditions.
"The outfield is slightly damp too, but I think after five or six overs it should settle down nicely. We’ll try to do the same things again - play with intent, stay positive, and back our plans. We spoke about that game that night, enjoyed the win, and then had two days to recover and reset. Everyone’s back focused now, and we’re really looking forward to this game."
