Team India, on Tuesday (October 1), bolstered their spot on the top of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) points table after the thumping 7-wicket victory over Bangladesh in the second Test at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.

On the final day of the Test, India wrapped up Bangladesh's second innings for 146 runs. Starting the day on 26/2, Bangladesh were on 91/3 at one stage before suffering an inexplicable collapse that reduced them to 94/7. A 37-run knock from veteran batsman Mushfiqur Rahim helped the visitors post 146 runs.

For India, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Ravindra Jadeja took three wickets each. Set a target of 95 runs, India crossed the finishing line in the 18th over by losing two wickets. After Rohit Sharma (8) and Shubman Gill (6) departed cheaply, Yashasvi Jaiswal (51) hit his second half-century of the game to power the home team to a comfortable win.

Earlier in the game, India set the platform for an unlikely win by becoming the fastest team to reach 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 in Tests. After no action took place on day two and three, the Rohit Sharma-led side bowled out Bangladesh for 233 runs on day four.

The hosts then went on to smash 285/9 (declared) in less than 35 overs to bolster their chances of winning the game. Earlier, India had won the opening Test of the series by 280 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
