Prime Minister Narendra Modi met and congratulated the T20 World Cup-winning Indian cricket team at his residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, on Thursday, July 4. Narendra Modi asked Indian skipper Rohit Sharma about the victory celebration after securing victory in the final match of the recent T20 World Cup 2024.
Rohit Sharma led the Indian team to their second T20 World Cup trophy in the West Indies and the USA. The Men in Blue beat South Africa by seven runs in the final in Barbados on June 29. It's worth mentioning that the Indian team became the first team to win the T20 World Cup trophy remaining undefeated.
Rohit Sharma celebrated India's 2024 T20 World Cup win by eating a piece of pitch soil in Barbados. The Indian skipper mimicked tennis star Novak Djokovic's tradition of eating grass at Wimbledon after each victory. The Indian cricket team ended their 11-year ICC title drought with victory in a thrilling encounter.

The Indian cricket team returned to India five days after their T20 World Cup victory in Barbados, delayed due to Hurricane Beryl. They landed in Delhi on July 4 via a specially arranged charter flight. Upon arrival, they met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence in the early hours of Thursday morning.
During the meeting, Rohit Sharma sat on Modi's right, with head coach Rahul Dravid on his left. The Indian cricketers and coaching staff wore specially designed jerseys featuring "CHAMPIONS" in bold letters on the front, with two stars on the jersey above the BCCI emblem indicating their two T20 World Cup victories.
Narendra Modi expressed joy at the Indian cricket team's victory and praised the team's resilience in crucial moments during a meeting lasting over an hour. The Prime Minister also asked Sharma humorously about the taste of the turf, mentioning the skipper's gesture of eating a piece of pitch soil after the win.
