Punjab Kings have faced a massive blow amid the ongoing game against Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Skipper Shreyas Iyer didn't come to to field in the second innings at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

The Punjab Kings skipper faced an injury on his index finger on the eve of the game against the Rajasthan Royals. He was in immense pain, but he wanted to play the game, in what was a crucial game for the team.

Shreyas Iyer came out to bat in the game against the Rajasthan Royals and played a decent innings. But he didn't look as comfortable as he had looked in the entire season. It was expected that he would come out to the field in the second innings, but that hasn't been the case at all.
Shreyas Iyer, ahead of the second innings, was subbed out, and Harpreet Brar came in as a replacement. However, in his absence, Shashank Singh has been handed the responsibility of leading the team, and would be keen to fill the shoes of Iyer, who has done a great job as captain.
Shashank Singh was one of the players who got retained by the Punjab Kings franchise ahead of the IPL 2025. The right-hander will have a huge task to do as it is an extremely crucial game for his team in the context of the playoffs, which are around the corner.

Coming to Shreyas Iyer, the right-hander, despite being in pain, played a brilliant hand with the bat for Punjab Kings. He scored 30 runs off 25 balls. The Punjab Kings skipper batted with a strike rate of 120 and also slammed five boundaries during his stay at the crease.
Apart from him, Nehal Wadhera played a magical innings as well with the bat. Coming to bat at four, the left-hander stole the limelight with his brutal batting. He slammed a brilliant fifty as he scored 70 runs off 37 balls, batting with a strike rate of 190.

Thanks to the brilliant innings by the batters, Punjab Kings posted a massive total of 219 runs on the board. For Rajasthan Royals, Tushar Deshpande bagged two wickets while Kwena Maphaka, Riyan Parag and Akash Madhwal bagged one wicket each.
