Rohit Sharma will be missing Mumbai Indians' game against Lucknow Super Giants on Friday (April 4), captain Hardik Pandya confirmed at the toss.
The India allrounder won the toss and opted to bowl first in the 16th game of the ongoing IPL 2025, taking place at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. The match will be MI's fourth game of the season and they are eyeing their second win.
The five-time champions began their campaign with a defeat against Chennai Super Kings. It was followed by another dismal performance as they were beaten by Gujarat Titans. MI finally opened their season with a thumping eight-wicket victory over Kolkata Knight Riders in their third game.

After finally opening their account in IPL 2025 and getting some much-needed winning momentum, MI will be hoping to make the most of it and beat LSG as well. However, they will have to do it without their senior-most player Rohit Sharma.
Rohit Sharma out of LSG clash:
Speaking at the toss, Hardik Pandya revealed that his predecessor Rohit was not available for the game. The MI captain also revealed the reason, saying that the opening batsman copped a blow on his knee and has been sidelined. With Rohit Sharma out, Will Jacks is set to open the innings for MI.
"We are gonna bowl first. Looks like a fresh wicket. Not sure how it is going to play. Looks a decent track. Dew might come in later. Thought better to chase. I think we in a group have spoken that we don't want to talk about the wickets," said Pandya.
"We are here to play good cricket. That's the talk we have. Let's not talk about the surfaces. I think adaptation. Sticking to right plans and being smart. Lot of runs are being scored. Cricket is situation based. Rohit was hit on the knee. He is missing out. Jasprit should be back soon," he added.
Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma has been under immense pressure due to his poor display with the bat this season. In three games, the India captain registered scores of 0, 8 and 13. He will be looking to hit the ground running once he recovers from the injury.
