Rilee Rossouw Bought By Punjab Kings For 8 Crores In IPL Auction 2024

Punjab Kings, on Tuesday (December 19), signed up South Africa star Rilee Rossouw in the IPL auction 2024. The left-handed batsman had registered himself at a base price of Rs 2 crores.
He went unsold in the first round before causing a bidding war between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings in the accelerated auction. Delhi Capitals tried their best to re-sign Rilee Rossouw but eventually lost the race to the Punjab-based outfit.
The South African batsman is not new to playing in the IPL. He has already played three seasons in the competition although he has failed to live up to the expectations so far. His IPL career began in 2011 when Royal Challengers Bangalore signed him up. However, he did not play any game in his maiden IPL season. In 2014, he was roped in by RCB once again as a replacement for Nic Maddinson.
In 2014, he played 3 games while in 2015 he played 2 games and scored a total of 53 runs. It was followed by a long eight years absence from the IPL before a brilliant season with South Africa in T20Is earned him an IPL contract from Delhi Capitals. Delhi secured his services for Rs 4.60 crores. In 9 games for the Delhi-based outfit, Rilee Rossouw scored 262 runs at an average of 21.83.
