Rishabh Pant’s Performance in the England vs India 2025 Test Series
Rishabh Pant was appointed vice-captain of the Indian Test team for the England tour. He delivered impressive performances with the bat in the 2025 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy in England.
The left-handed batter amassed 479 runs in four Tests at an impressive average of 68.42, including two centuries and three half-centuries. He surpassed former India captain MS Dhoni’s record for the most Test hundreds by an Indian wicketkeeper-batter.
Pant suffered a finger injury in the third Test at Lord’s, and Dhruv Jurel took over wicketkeeping duties. He then suffered a foot injury attempting a reverse sweep off Chris Woakes during the fourth Test.
Jurel had to step in as a backup. Pant was ruled out of the fifth and final Test at The Oval, and Tamil Nadu’s Narayan Jagadeesan was added to the squad as a replacement wicketkeeper.
Rishabh Pant Remains India’s Primary Wicketkeeper in Tests
Pant remains India’s primary wicketkeeper in Tests. His return will strengthen India following a disappointing home series loss to New Zealand.
Pant has played 47 Tests and scored 3,427 runs at an average of 44.51, including eight centuries and 18 half-centuries, with a best score of 159*. India are expected to regain form during the home matches.
After the West Indies Test series, India will tour Australia for a three-match ODI series. Perth, Adelaide, and Sydney will host ODI matches on October 19, 23, and 25, respectively. Five T20I matches will take place in Canberra, Melbourne, Hobart, Gold Coast, and Brisbane.
Pant last played T20Is against Sri Lanka in July 2024 and missed subsequent series against Bangladesh, South Africa, and England due to workload management. He was part of the ICC Champions Trophy but didn't get a chance in the playing XI.
